GOOGLE TO CREATE A MOBILE INDEX
Google has announced that an index for mobile searches will become its primary index and that its desktop index will be updated less often. However it has not given a date nor many more details.
This comes as the number of searches from mobile devices has now overtaken desktop and tablet searches.
In April 2015 Google updated its algorithm to give more weight to mobile friendly websites for mobile searches. As a result some traditional desktop only sites fell in the rankings on mobiles and many rushed to get sites upgraded with a mobile website option.
Until Google provides more information the full implications are not clear as it could mean that the mobile search engine ONLY looks at mobile friendly content in future.
